Saintleo is a New York–based design and production studio operating at the intersection of metal, furniture, and spatial design.
Founded by Leon McKay after his studies of engineering in Melbourne, Australia, Saintleo took shape as an architectural project workshop in Auckland, New Zealand. Following Leon’s interests in music, art and architecture, Saintleo has since evolved into a studio for special projects, collaborations and limited-edition pieces, now based and operating in Brooklyn, New York. Each project reflects Leon’s visual language of design, detail and craftsmanship, combining an eclectic use of raw materials with a refined, contemporary sensibility.

This project centers on the conservation and reinterpretation of the iconic Altec A7 Voice of the Theatre loudspeakers.
Original Altec components were sourced internationally to preserve the integrity of the system. Using archival drawings, the original enclosure geometry was redrafted and translated into CAD, allowing the cabinets to be reconstructed with exacting proportion. The initial enclosures were CNC-cut and fabricated in birch plywood, employing modern joining techniques to enhance structural precision and acoustic stability.
The form was then reimagined through material application. Each surface was clad piece by piece in Italian super-mirror inox stainless steel, meticulously fitted to ensure tight tolerances, controlled resonance, and the absence of loose components.
The speakers debuted at the first Saintleo solo exhibition during Design Week, prior to a private sale. They were subsequently installed in their final destination in New York.
